Our Story

Born from a chef's obsession with the bold, smoky flavors found on the bustling street corners of Europe, The DÜO brings the soul of authentic döner culture to the heart of Siesta Key.

Founded by the dynamic husband-and-wife team of Chef/Owner Jacob and Owner/Operator Maja, The DÜO is the culmination of a lifelong passion for exceptional food and genuine hospitality. Throughout his career, Chef Jacob honed his craft in some of Europe's finest kitchens, earning recognition for both his culinary expertise and award-winning barbecue. Working alongside Michelin-starred chefs instilled a relentless commitment to quality, technique, and consistency.

Yet despite his fine-dining background, some of his most memorable meals came after service, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with locals at neighborhood kebab shops. Those late-night stops inspired a vision: to combine the care and precision of fine dining with the comforting, crave-worthy flavors of authentic Turkish döner.

That vision became reality in 2024 when The DÜO opened its doors on Siesta Key.

The road was not without challenges. Just months after opening, the restaurant endured the impact of Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Through determination, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to their guests, Jacob and Maja persevered. That same spirit continues to define The DÜO today.

Soon after, they were joined by Chef Benjamin, a Sarasota native who shares their dedication to culinary excellence and hospitality. Together, this close-knit team operates with a simple philosophy: serve the freshest ingredients, prepare every dish with intention, and deliver exceptional value without compromise.

Every plate reflects a no-nonsense approach to quality, guided by a culture of accountability, respect, and attention to detail. No shortcuts. No excuses. Just honest food crafted with pride and served with purpose.

Ultimately, the true measure of our success is the experience of our guests. We invite you to stop by, discover what makes The DÜO unique, and experience for yourself why locals and visitors alike continue to make us part of their Siesta Key tradition.

We think your taste buds will thank you.
